Profhilo works by stimulating the production of collagen and is a skin remodeling treatment, rather than a dermal filler. Profhilo is given as two treatments, four weeks apart and is a great treatment for those experiencing unwanted dull, tired skin. As we age, our skin loses an increased amount of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid (HA). Profilo treatments at Dermaesthetics Clinic, helps to reverse that process, resulting in a healthy, happy glow. Whilst Profhilo does not add volume like Dermal Fillers, it does hydrate the skin from within and results can be seen instantly after the second treatment. This treatment is suitable for both men and women wanting a refresh and works well with other treatments.
At Dermaesthetics Clinic, we typically use PROFHILO in the Face, Neck and Décolletage. For body treatments we often use it to treat the Hands, Upper Arms and above the Knees.
We believe anyone from the age of 30 onwards can benefit from this new injectable treatment. The main indication is for those who want to reduce the signs of skin ageing. From around the age of 30, we start losing collagen, Hyaluronic acid and Elastin, which will result in strengthening the skin dermal matrix. In younger peoplethe benefit is that of preventative therapy and increased skin hydration.
PROFHILO involves 2 injectable treatments spaced 4 weeks apart. Patients should expect a gradual increase in skin hydration and some improvement in fine facial lines, with increased skin tightness. After 8 weeks, there may be some lifting and tightening of the skin. The resultant effects of increased skin firmness, improved skin quality and texture can last up to six months.
Two sessions spaced four weeks apart is generally the recommended protocol for most patients. In those with poor quality skin and increased laxity a third course may be required.
You will start to see skin improvements after four weeks of the first treatment. Please note results may vary between individuals.
PROFHILO is a very safe injection. It is essentially a highly biocompatible synthetic material made up from natural Hyaluronic Acid, stabilised without chemical cross-linking agents. Clinically it is very safe, pure material with minimal side-effects.
At Dermaesthetics Clinic we ask patients post injection not to touch or apply make-up to the treated area until the next day as this reduces the risk of infection. We advocate no exercise for 48 hours and to avoid Aesthetic facial treatments for four weeks. We also advise against exposure to high heat, e.g. Saunas and Spas
